چکیده
Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC) are classically categorised as spindle shaped fibroblastic-like cells that form colonies in vitro cultures. As stem cells, they are self-renewable and have potential to differentiate into the mature mesodermal lineages such as osteocytes, adipocytes and chondrocytes. Although, MSC are non-haematopoietic, yet they support haematopoiesis in adult bone marrow (BM) and foetus by providing a suitable niche for the haematopoietic stem cells (HSC) and progenitors. In addition, MSC also possess unique immunological properties which has made them a novel candidate for anti-inflammatory therapy in the field of transplantation and regenerative medicine [1-3].
